Abdul Qadir Abdul Rahman Buhari is a Mechanical Engineer. He graduated from Anna University, Chennai-India, and has an MBA from Babson College, Wellesley-USA. He is the 2nd son of an illustrious business magnate Dr. B.S. Abdur Rahman, who is the founder shareholder of ETA Ascon Star Group, a multi-billion-dollar business venture headquartered in Dubai and spread over 22 countries including India.
Apart from ETA Companies, he has day to day management responsibilities in a ship owning company, West Asia Maritime Limited, Automobile Dealership in Trans Car India Pvt. Ltd., (Mercedes Benz), Abra Motors Pvt Ltd. (Volkswagen), Zulaikha Motors Pvt Ltd., (Mahindra & Mahindra), Trans Tempo Pvt Ltd (Force Motors) and a 10 MW biomass power plant ETA Power Gen. and Chairman of the board of Management of B.S. Abdur Rahman University.
Apart from these qualifications, he is involved in his family Not for profit Trust(s) which manages 12 Educational Institutions including 5 schools for girls in rural areas and a women’s college.
His wife Maryam and he started 4M Trust in 2007, to promote Self-Help Groups (SHGs) which has facilitated over Rs. 20 crores from Banks & Financial Institutions extending help to over 18,500 women.
Towards his desire and to take forward Islamic Microfinance initiatives, he became a Managing Committee Member of Sahulat Microfinance Society, which plans to promote multi state cooperatives throughout India.
Currently he is pursuing his Ph.D. in Shariah Compliant Ethical Micro Finance and Financial Inclusion, at Anna University, Chennai, India.
His interests are Exercise and Fitness, Health Spa, travelling to exotic locations, Watching Movies and Listening to music.
